LOADs of fun with Lain This May!!

I've signed up for a LayOut A Day with Lain again!! I'm so excited! I've never had so much mojo going as I did last winter (January 2008) when I partcipated in the very first one!! I wasn't lucky enough to get to participate this past February when she continued the event. The details and Q&A are up on her blog, but the short version is: $10 gets you daily prompts that you don't have to use, a private sharing gallery on flickr, and a chance to win all kinds of goodies IF you complete A LAYOUT A DAY! Come join with me and let's get some scrappin' done!

In other news, I'm entering the third week of Allison Tyler Jones' photography class over at Big Picture Scrapbooking. This week's lesson was about documentary vs. interpretive photography. ATJ will be critiquing tonight so I'll be anxious to see what tomorrow brings. I've got to find some other subjects other than my own children - they are SO DONE with me being behind the camera while they're in front of it. I had to take what I could get after trying a few times to get some decent documentary photos with not a lot of luck. I can't get my kids to sit still enough for anything. If you're in the OP/Jacksonville area and you're willing for me to do some photoshoots of you and your loved ones, please drop me a message! Otherwise, what do you think of these? They were all manual settings, so I'm still pretty impressed with the fact that they actually turned out at all!

Photo Triage - LOM-style

Okay, so many of my visitors here are from Stacy Julian's Library of Memories class currently being taught at Big Picture Scrapbooking . . . and many of you are completely clueless as to what I'm talking about, so I feel the need to give a bit of history on what Photo Triage is before getting into this long detailed post. Photo Triage is basically prioritizing your photos and sending them to the appropriate location for "waiting" just like a triage nurse in an Emergency Room. Basically, it helps you to determine which photos should take priority and have their stories told first.

There's a lot of practice that goes into Photo Triage, and since I've been doing this for three years now, and being as I'm a coach and answer questions like this frequently, I thought it'd be nice to give a little more detail to it with some visuals . . . so without any further delay, let's begin!

These photos were MANY photos that I took from my oldest son's second birthday. There were A LOT of pictures, and I didn't print them all . . . but here's a look at what I did print.

opening gifts

family shots

new wagon pictures

eating cake/blowing out candles

outside play

Hmmm . . . and my food ones are missing from lunch (but that's beside the point).

Here's what I decided I was going to scrapbook as far as my son's party layout will go:

The one of Matthew blowing out candles, a group shot of the table, Matthew in his new wagon, playing with the bubble machine, and a shot of the blow up pool/slide that we had bought all made the final cut. I decided these based on the fact that it shows an overall summary of what his party was about. He's a June birthday, so we were outside, he got an awesome wagon that he loved for many years, and a photo of everyone who was there . . .

Here's what happened to the rest of those photos:

These all went into People -> Grandparents -> Grandparents and Me section

This ONE gift shot will go into THINGS -> Everyday Life -> Books/Reading

Mmmm . . . this one will go into THINGS -> Birthdays/Celebrations because this is so typical of my kids when they're around "celebration" cakes . . . sneaking icing! lol

These will actually go back into the storage binders for a layout about his first experience with a jumprope. Four years later, he has become quite talented with things like this. There are actually two prints of the one in back, and one copy will go into the US -> Matthew section.

And all of these???? They're heading to cold storage or the trash can. I'm still contemplating sending that one of him in the red wagon somewhere, so it may also head back into the storage binder until I can decide where I want it to go . . .

So, there ya have it . . . My photo triage in a nutshell . . . If you have any questions, feel free to ask! I'll answer them in another post. I also hope to be sharing some of the layouts that come from the various photos here, and how there's more than just a birthday party going on . . . lots and lots of memories are here!
Check back soon and I hope everyone's having a fabulous Easter Sunday that celebrates. It's beautiful here in my area today. We've played in the sprinkler after our egg hunt and we'll be heading out on a walk soon.

These Make Me Happy!

Nothing has made me happier in the last two weeks than when I wear these! Heck I don't even have to wear them, I could just look at them from across the room. These bright and bold colors on these flip flops from Little Missmatched are fabulous, and they fit perfectly. I love wearing these the most when I'm in my house cleaning (doing those dishes or vacumming floors) and I just look down and smile . . . Okay, and I PROMISE that I do wear these, but I've been too busy to paint my toenails so I don't dare take a pic with my feet actually in them - and NO ONE wants to see a picture of that! LOL

I've heard about Little Missmatched for a while now from various online friends, but had never made the move to order anything. I finally decided on these beautiful flip flops because here in Florida, I practically wear them year-round. Their cute socks would just never get worn in my life. Anyhow, I couldn't be happier with these little guys! If you'd like to browse, there's a link to the left!

Happy Day everyone!!
