Well, actually the boys are all down at the pool, and K is still in St. Augustine with Nana and Papa. The two little ones will in fact be heading down to G-ville on Wednesday afternoon until Friday evening. WOW!
The beach was relaxing, though COLD . . . what the heck is up with all the weird weather??? We had a NorEast'r come through on Sunday as we drove down . . . and it only got colder. It was 55 when we went to bed last night and 48 this morning. Of course, we checked out at 11 am and headed into the City again . . . only to eat lunch and have the sun start peaking through. Luckily I had brought jeans, but no one else had. And then on our stop into Target they luckily had some sweaters on clearance! Geez, who would have thought. Did Mother Nature not get the memo that it's SPRING and that tomorrow is APRIL?!?!?
In other news, a LOM friend from 2007 is working on a project for BPS down in St. Pete (ok, yes, thanks to me since Paula emailed me looking for someone in the area!!) I wish I had lived closer. . . lucky Katie got some Happy Mail from Paula @ Big Picture for her help! I can't wait to see what comes of the fun stuff at Whimsodoodle! Maybe I'll get to make a little trip down there one day in the next few months and see for myself!
I'll share some pictures later . . . I just wanted to check in!

Spring Break is here . . .

So I will be sparse once again! Just wanted you to know . . .

Yesterday was the first day - nothing special. I needed to get the oil changed in the van and get some groceries . . . we've got a room at a beach condo that we're heading to for Sunday and Monday - the boys have soccer today or we would have headed down today. (Can we say YAY, DH is off of work??)

K's then heading to her Nana's house, and the boys will be heading to Grandma's house for an extra few days (Can we say YAY ME??) LOL I love my kids and I was a little sad to see them go, but then I decided to embrace the "grandparents" time and enjoy my "alone" time. I know, I get way too much alone time while they're at school . . . but the part about not having to have time restrictions sounds so nice . . . I think it's been 2 summers since all my kids were gone at the same time. wow . . .

Talk to everyone soon!

To a Role Model

Stacy Julian has been an amazing role model for me in my role as a mother and as a scrapbooker! Anyone I scrapbook with on a regular basis knows I follow Stacy and what she's doing and that is because I know she has a vision and I believe in that vision. She has goals, tries to balance life and a carreer in the scrapbooking industry and is a mom to FIVE (yes, count that FIVE kids) . . . while I know she doesn't do it alone, she is so good at being reflective about herself and what she's doing, that I just am in awe as I watch and learn.
Stacy recently decided to step down from her editorial role at Simple Scrapbooks. I sent her a private email through the BPS email letting her know what she and her vision have meant to me - just how much picking up her Simple Scrapbooks book, back in 2001 when I first walked into a scrapbook store really changed my life . . . but I want all of you to know that this is one awesome person. She is leaving Simple behind to persue something else (not quite sure what that is yet) but she has been (and always will be, I believe) an ambassador for the scrapbooking world.
Change: You can not change until you're willing to step away from the comfortable, and the safe . . . out into the unknown. Change is good and should be welcomed with open arms . . . it's how we grow as people and become an active part in our society . . . Welcome the change . . .
Stacy, I am so excited for you with whatever it is that you have in store for us scrapbookers!

Finally . . .

the long-awaited Christmas layout. Okay, before you say how boring, I know . . . I honestly don't put a lot of time and energy into EVERY layout I do . . . and YES, I still scrapbook "events" with my Library of Memories system. I've stopped scrapbooking EVERY holiday every year, but I do enjoy having an annual Christmas layout to look back on. These pictures were from 2000 - we were in our brand new house that year so we got to "host." I enjoyed playing with the Creative Cafe line for the first time too . . . our LSS was having all their product at 50% off that evening!! SCORE!! LOL It was really the first time using LOTS of buttons on a layout too. I think I want buttons in every color now . . . I can just see them all jumbled in a big glass jar looking pretty somewhere near my desk!

Ahhh, Spring is practically here

For us in Florida, it's not the warm weather we're always looking forward to (it's really been a mild winter here) but I do love spring!

I love:

  • the longer days

  • the green appearing a little more every day - like on my maple trees and heather shrubs

  • soccer season is back! M moved up to U8 and L is excited to start this time! *please note: I never thought I'd be one to enjoy being a soccer mom, but I'm starting to wish I had been given the chance to actually play when I was younger. It's quickly becoming my favorite sport . . . right next to football!

  • Spring Break!!

  • One season closer to school being out so we can all sleep in!

  • and of course, lots and lots of rain . . . I woke up this morning at 6:45 to a tornado warning and lots of wind and rain.

In other news, I'm hoping to scrapbook this weekend . . . (I know, I still haven't gotten a picture of that layout uploaded yet) . . . hopefully tonight if DH can make it home in time - if not, I guess I'll go somewhere tomorrow. Two soccer games tomorrow too, so I'm hoping for NO RAIN! M got a new soccer ball when he moved up and he was very excited! I enjoyed how this pic came out . . .

Having a ball!

Since January, I've been so anxious for the end of February to get here! Last Thursday marked the beginning of the third session of Stacy Julian's Library of Memories class over at Big Picture Scrapbooking. While I just wanted to be a part of it again because of the closeness of the group - the emotions that everyone seems to go through - I was lucky enough to be asked to be one of a handful of Alumni Mentors. We're helping answer questions and guide current (and past) students in making decisions based on experience. It's not that it's a "big" thing, but I'm glad I can help - and I'm meeting some great new people in the process! It's been so much fun reliving the class through a new student's eyes again! So much anticipation . . . and just like any teacher would know . . . seeing those eyes light up when they finally "get it!"
I'll be checking in soon! I've still got my one lone scrapbook page from February to share, but hopefully, very soon, I'll have much more!
