Disappearing act!

I've been taking a class at BPS by Cathy Z! Lots of fun and lots of layouts to complete!

I've got a pre-employment meeting tomorrow with the local school board to start subbing.

I'm helping Lance's class get their Thanksgiving placemats done with their handprints and continuing to do Great Leaps with them.

Ed's on his way out of town for 10 days - including the weekend - ugh!

Holiday parties are starting up!

Football season is over. I kind of miss it, then again, I'm kind of glad I have all my kids home and getting ready for bed by 8 pm. Chaos ensued when I had to get homework and two dinners done for Matthew two nights a week.

Had a blast at a friend's adult-only Halloween party. Seriously, I haven't partied like that in years. It was lots of fun and lots of memories and good friends. Unlike some people, I actually remember what happened and how I got home! LOL Football coaches, soccer coaches and neighbors were all there. We've decided that we're going to do these parties once every few months - to hang out and let loose without breaking up fights and worrying about what the kids are doing.

Just thought I'd check in. The kids were all out of school today (odd in the middle of the week. Usually we celebrate Vetran's Day on the Monday before, not always on the 11th). Anyhow, I'v got to go work on homework with my middle child. Wish me luck! He so hates homework! Hopefully I'll have some layouts to post soon!

Give Yourself a PRESENT

I often get so bogged down with my to-do list and all the multitasking that goes along with being a soccer/football/swim mom of three that I forget to be HERE, in the present, at this very moment. I spent the last three months participating in an online class, with the last month working on being very present, very here, and loving every second of it! It's absolutely life-changing (okay, not as life-changing as Library of Memories, but it's definitely up there), and I'm inviting all of you to join along in Stacy Julian's challenge of Being Present! I'm planning on putting these, as well as many others, into my little Basic Grey Mono Mini Album when it arrives!

What a fabulous little gift this will be for ME! (You can see links to many more samples through Stacy's website since mine isn't complete yet)I want you to give yourself a PRESENT as well, as in the "here and now."

Here's what Stacy says:

You have everything you need right now to be vibrant and fully engaged in the creative process. Sometimes you just have to slow down, look around and realize it!

  • Snap ten photos of your life right now.
  • Compile these photos in a mini album.
  • Keep or carry this album with you (in your desk drawer or purse) for one year.
  • Promise to glance through the album every time you stumble upon it or pull it from your purse.
  • On October 1, 2009, create a scrapbook page about your experience. I'll be here to remind you and share my page!

So, will you join me, and dozens of other women, in being more present???

And to make it a little more tempting, as a gift from me, Stacy J, and Basic Grey . . . I have about 25 of these cute little albums to give away (until they run out) to those of you who leave a comment on my blog and let me know that YOU are going to participate in Stacy's Be Present Challenge! Be sure to leave an email so I can get your address and I'd love for you to share pictures as you complete your album!

Where oh where have I been??

Seriously, I'm really starting to forget I have a blog . . . but part of me is really tired of feeling like when I come, it's so darn redundant.

I went to the CTMH convention in Orlando! It was SO NICE to drive and not have to fly, though I missed my family and wish they could have come down with me . . .

Lance had a birthday - at CEC just like his brother's - and he loved every second of it . . .

All the kids are now in school and sports . . . . Kristen is back on the year-round swim team, Matthew is currently in football (Ed's coaching) and Lance is halfway done with soccer. The boys will be taking a BREAK from sports until at least January (we're not doing tball or basketball though), so it may actually be March before they start back up. Things just need to S-L-O-W down here at home, and at least Kristen can get herself to practice most evenings.

Kristen got to take a long weekend in August up to North Carolina with my parents . . .

She's also getting to go to Washington, DC over their Spring Break for only a mere $650!! (yikes!) . . .

Ed bought a new car and we sold our old one for way more than we ever thought we'd get for it . . .

We bought a new computer with the extra cash since my old Toshiba was SLOW and the power cord and battery were shot . . .

Then we found out that we can stay on ATT for our cell phones so we went ahead and bought me a new one - because mine was falling apart - and signed us up for unlimited texting . . . I bought a Blackberry Curve (in red) so I can sync my calendar and not have to carry around a big paper planner . . .

I've been busy taking my two classes at BPS but I seriously didn't go to completion with my photography class . . . I personally didn't think it was worth the price tag and it was all pretty much stuff I already knew - serious basics . . . and I didn't get to play as much because weather has been CRAZY here . . . now that it's great overcast and no storm days, the class is over . . .

anyhow, there's a quick update . . . I'm hoping to share some pictures from my 30 Days Hath September album that I'm working on in Have More Fun, as well as a special request from Heather asking how to do a "snake album!" More soon!

Only one more week . . . .

and I'll be at the Close To My Heart convention in sunny Orlando, FL!! I'm also juggling trying to (still) get the TBE scrapbook done, as well as get some swaps done . . . as well as some roomie gifts! I'm still debating on if I'm heading down Tuesday evening or Wednesday EARLY (like 4 am) morning . . . I'm looking forward to meeting many friends from CTMH that I've met online through our corporate website as well as through BPS (Hi Kathy, Jennifer, and Tresa)!! I'm also looking forward to spending some time with my upline again (she lives pretty far from me) and having all my meals cooked for me and no dishes to do! I guess I need to start thinking of what I'm going to wear as well . . . FUN FUN!! Do I see a shopping trip this weekend?? lol

Finding the light

Our lesson this week is on finding light . . . of course, I have been going between pools and thunderstorms so I've taken what I can get! We were to do a "garage shoot" which I turned into a "front porch shoot" just to get different locations recorded on film for me to look at.

I of course also had to be "fair" and include a photo of each of my children.

Matthew with his "cheesy" grin . . . he is the one who most wants to see his picture, but not take a nice one for me . . . no amount of bribing works with him!

Lance is the goofball! He loves getting his picture taken and will sit and try many different facial expressions, just not when I want him to do them! LOL

I moved to the front patio for my daughter - nice afternoon East light . . . of course, she hates getting her picture taken and I had to bribe her with Starbucks for the shoot!

I've got one more "assignment" to do for the next week . . . I'm loving her critiques, though I wish they were harsher, so if any of you want to critique, feel free!!! I can tell I'm loving to turn the camera to get an angle on them . . . I'll need to work on that in the coming weeks!

That's my mind these days!! The summer is quickly on it's way out the door. One month from today and all the kids are officially back in school. Of course, I've got many projects on my plate that I want and need to do and their just not coming to fruition. It's this internal battle of what needs to be done vs. what I really WANT to do . . . knowing that I could be starting work on August 11th is not helping me be less selfish with my free time that I have now.

First, I've been the school "historian" with PFA this year. Basically, I'm in charge of the school scrapbooks. Well, they were hurting. There were a few years "missing" where all we have is newspaper articles and then I needed to stay current with this year's events as well. It wasn't so bad at first. I copied all the clippings and searched for photos that I may have had (and even spoke to many teachers that were there, as well as other parents) to see if there was ANYTHING that could add some interest (to no avail) and I got busy on finishing those up. But in the spring, when I wanted to start on this years pages, I got really sick, and now I just can't seem to find the mojo to do these pages that just don't "inspire" me.

What I do want to do is work on my photography and the Have More Fun class at BPS, as well as some layouts from the already finished Baker's Dozen that are calling my name. Those classes have just been so FUN, freeing, and plain interesting and I've got all these ideas spinning in my head . . . Obviously I need to get this out of my system so my mind can work diligently on the "necessary." Hopefully that means I'll have some new pages to share soon!

In other news . . . do you see my new widget over there to the right? LOL I know, you've heard enough, right? Well, if you haven't read at least one of these books yet (if you enjoy reading) then it hasn't been enough. Just two weeks until the release . . . which means less than two weeks and I'll be in Orlando, FL at the Close To My Heart Convention (which brings up another need/want to my list: SWAPS to trade)!!! Anyhow, the publishers are releasing a quote of the day from her book to make us even more antsy . . . you should check them out as well as the NEW trailer!!!

Have a wonderful Friday!!

A few photos . . .

A few people have been asking how I'm liking the Photography class I'm taking at BPS and I wanted to be sure you all knew that I think this class is worth every penny! I don't know how Barbara can keep up with everything - it almost has to become a full-time job for her. It's not just her in-depth class handouts but also the critiquing in her gallery as well as answering everyone's more specific questions regarding equipment details and care! Unbelievable!
With that in mind, last week was just our first week and our main assignment was to pull together an Inspiration Notebook and start using it as a jumping off point for our own photographs . . . yeah, I didn't necessarily post those, just because some are just not that fabulous . . . but the one of the viewer was taken at the zoo and that was completely a lift off of a friend's blog . . . I thought it was a cute play on words! The other thing I've got an issue with is a DD who hates having her picture taken, and young children who are huge HAMs for the camera . . . I just want someone to look natural for once! LOL
Anyhow, here are a few photos to share . . . nothing earth-shattering, though I loved the natural light coming into the middle one - it's still just a tad dark, but hey, it was 6:30 in the evening. I've got a blue challenge that I need to find today . . . I have lots of older photos of BLUE but I want to find something new besides the sky! LOL

Having lots of FUN!

I've been busy this summer with my kids and taking some online classes at BigPictureScrapbooking.com! I just finished up Library of Memories as a coach this past June, and now I'm on to Have More FUN! (taught by Stacy Julian) and Photography 101 (with Barbara Carroll). I know the basics of photography, but I really need something to MAKE me practice a bit more and I think it's great that Barbara will critique a couple of photos a week and give us honest feedback! I can't wait to start playing and taking some fun photos and sharing. Stacy's class is having a guest teacher for the month of July! Last week it was Marjorie from Making Memories and can you believe, they gave away a Slice?? This week, it's the Funnest Scrapbooker Ever for 2007 that was awarded by Simple Scrapbooks, Tamara Morrison! I hear we have a surprise on the way to our homes to help us have even more FUN! I'll share when it gets here! I just love BPS classes and the community that is formed!

I'm set!

Well, besides being sick for the last week - again - I celebrated my 29th birthday again as well . . . I treated myself to one of these last night as a reward . . . I decided since I can't have an iPhone since we'll be leaving AT&T wireless in a few short months, that it was time I get myself an iPod . . . and well, there are plenty of benefits to the iTouch as well . . .like watching video, having WiFi, and calendar and notes sections . . . so, I've been organizing my playlists today! It's been so long since I've really paid any attention to what's out right now that I'm kind of lost with what to buy (Wal Mart was giving out $50 iTunes gift cards through yesterday) so I've got $$ to burn.

Feel free to leave me a comment or two with some ideas on any songs I should add to my new toy!

I've been . . .

Getting over a cold while trying to keep the house in order . . . I've not touched a scrapbooking product in over a week - unless you count the time my youngest tried to take one of my adhesives off my desk and I took it back and put it away. Sad but true . . . I HAVE TO finish up the scrapbooks for the elementary school and start on a packing list for our vacation . . . I'd much rather daydream about what the book Breaking Dawn holds for Bella and Edward. Will she turn into a vampire, and if so, who will do it? What will the wedding be like and how will her parents react?? One of the things Edward loves the most about Bella is her heartbeat and when her cheeks blush . . . how will he feel when there is no heartbeat any longer?? No blood running through her veins to make her blush?? Sad, isn't it??
Ahhh, back to life!

Those two layouts . . .

Here's the layout of Lance's Many Faces . . . he's got such a wide range of personalities and it just shows all over his face. These were from various events throughout Spring 2007.
And here is the layout of my parents, about 6 months before I was born. I have LOTS of hidden journaling behind the photo-clipped "tag." It was pretty therapeautic to do this layout.
I also forgot to mention, I've been working on a 9x9 accordian album of my CTMH Leadership trip to San Diego last summer. I hope to share that soon! It's using the Life Delights Memory Showcase (stickease and paper) and it came together really easy (always a plus)!!
Thanks for looking!

Movies and Scrapbooking (two of my favorite things)

I'm still here!! I've been busy and haven't had much time to share! After AI last week, I've since watched Phantom of the Opera twice . . . and a few other rentals this weekend included Cloverfield (filmed like The Blair Witch Project) and also Charlie Wilson's War. Both were good movies, albiet not "GREAT!" The suspensefullness of Cloverfield wasn't as much as it should (or could) have been, and Charlie Wilson's War was a good story, albiet, the message it sent was pretty much expected. It was neat to see the "behind the scenes" of the arms trade agreements and such.

I've also had a chance to scrapbook this past weekend. I've not gotten pictures of them yet, but the first is titled The Many Faces of Lance and has random faces he made during the spring of 2007. The other one I did, I actually just finished today, and it was of my parents (divorced since 92 and my mom passed away in 97). It was a photo taken in 1975 with hidden journaling using CTMH's Silouhette papers. I'm mighty proud of it, and even more proud of the heartfelt journaling that came with it! YAY for me! It'll likely be the only picture I scrapbook of my parents "alone" and talk of their marriage and divorce.

I {heart} David Cook

and then add in Phantom of the Opera and I'm truly in heaven! My night was made by watching American Idol tonight. If you missed it, see the video below.

I've been working and planning!!

I'm really revving up my business again! Our new Summer 2008 Idea Books are in my hands and I am THRILLED with what's inside!! I'm planning an Idea Book Premiere Party so you can see new techniques, get a free idea book and give away many great NEW PRODUCT throughout the night! How many of you already have plans for National Scrapbooking Day?? Leave a comment and let me know! As of right now, the date is set for May 2nd at 7:30 pm - my house! I can't wait!!

Monday, March 31, 2008

Well, actually the boys are all down at the pool, and K is still in St. Augustine with Nana and Papa. The two little ones will in fact be heading down to G-ville on Wednesday afternoon until Friday evening. WOW!
The beach was relaxing, though COLD . . . what the heck is up with all the weird weather??? We had a NorEast'r come through on Sunday as we drove down . . . and it only got colder. It was 55 when we went to bed last night and 48 this morning. Of course, we checked out at 11 am and headed into the City again . . . only to eat lunch and have the sun start peaking through. Luckily I had brought jeans, but no one else had. And then on our stop into Target they luckily had some sweaters on clearance! Geez, who would have thought. Did Mother Nature not get the memo that it's SPRING and that tomorrow is APRIL?!?!?
In other news, a LOM friend from 2007 is working on a project for BPS down in St. Pete (ok, yes, thanks to me since Paula emailed me looking for someone in the area!!) I wish I had lived closer. . . lucky Katie got some Happy Mail from Paula @ Big Picture for her help! I can't wait to see what comes of the fun stuff at Whimsodoodle! Maybe I'll get to make a little trip down there one day in the next few months and see for myself!
I'll share some pictures later . . . I just wanted to check in!

Saturday, March 29, 2008

Spring Break is here . . .

So I will be sparse once again! Just wanted you to know . . .

Yesterday was the first day - nothing special. I needed to get the oil changed in the van and get some groceries . . . we've got a room at a beach condo that we're heading to for Sunday and Monday - the boys have soccer today or we would have headed down today. (Can we say YAY, DH is off of work??)

K's then heading to her Nana's house, and the boys will be heading to Grandma's house for an extra few days (Can we say YAY ME??) LOL I love my kids and I was a little sad to see them go, but then I decided to embrace the "grandparents" time and enjoy my "alone" time. I know, I get way too much alone time while they're at school . . . but the part about not having to have time restrictions sounds so nice . . . I think it's been 2 summers since all my kids were gone at the same time. wow . . .

Talk to everyone soon!

To a Role Model

Stacy Julian has been an amazing role model for me in my role as a mother and as a scrapbooker! Anyone I scrapbook with on a regular basis knows I follow Stacy and what she's doing and that is because I know she has a vision and I believe in that vision. She has goals, tries to balance life and a carreer in the scrapbooking industry and is a mom to FIVE (yes, count that FIVE kids) . . . while I know she doesn't do it alone, she is so good at being reflective about herself and what she's doing, that I just am in awe as I watch and learn.
Stacy recently decided to step down from her editorial role at Simple Scrapbooks. I sent her a private email through the BPS email letting her know what she and her vision have meant to me - just how much picking up her Simple Scrapbooks book, back in 2001 when I first walked into a scrapbook store really changed my life . . . but I want all of you to know that this is one awesome person. She is leaving Simple behind to persue something else (not quite sure what that is yet) but she has been (and always will be, I believe) an ambassador for the scrapbooking world.
Change: You can not change until you're willing to step away from the comfortable, and the safe . . . out into the unknown. Change is good and should be welcomed with open arms . . . it's how we grow as people and become an active part in our society . . . Welcome the change . . .
Stacy, I am so excited for you with whatever it is that you have in store for us scrapbookers!

Finally . . .

the long-awaited Christmas layout. Okay, before you say how boring, I know . . . I honestly don't put a lot of time and energy into EVERY layout I do . . . and YES, I still scrapbook "events" with my Library of Memories system. I've stopped scrapbooking EVERY holiday every year, but I do enjoy having an annual Christmas layout to look back on. These pictures were from 2000 - we were in our brand new house that year so we got to "host." I enjoyed playing with the Creative Cafe line for the first time too . . . our LSS was having all their product at 50% off that evening!! SCORE!! LOL It was really the first time using LOTS of buttons on a layout too. I think I want buttons in every color now . . . I can just see them all jumbled in a big glass jar looking pretty somewhere near my desk!

Ahhh, Spring is practically here

For us in Florida, it's not the warm weather we're always looking forward to (it's really been a mild winter here) but I do love spring!

I love:

  • the longer days

  • the green appearing a little more every day - like on my maple trees and heather shrubs

  • soccer season is back! M moved up to U8 and L is excited to start this time! *please note: I never thought I'd be one to enjoy being a soccer mom, but I'm starting to wish I had been given the chance to actually play when I was younger. It's quickly becoming my favorite sport . . . right next to football!

  • Spring Break!!

  • One season closer to school being out so we can all sleep in!

  • and of course, lots and lots of rain . . . I woke up this morning at 6:45 to a tornado warning and lots of wind and rain.

In other news, I'm hoping to scrapbook this weekend . . . (I know, I still haven't gotten a picture of that layout uploaded yet) . . . hopefully tonight if DH can make it home in time - if not, I guess I'll go somewhere tomorrow. Two soccer games tomorrow too, so I'm hoping for NO RAIN! M got a new soccer ball when he moved up and he was very excited! I enjoyed how this pic came out . . .

Having a ball!

Since January, I've been so anxious for the end of February to get here! Last Thursday marked the beginning of the third session of Stacy Julian's Library of Memories class over at Big Picture Scrapbooking. While I just wanted to be a part of it again because of the closeness of the group - the emotions that everyone seems to go through - I was lucky enough to be asked to be one of a handful of Alumni Mentors. We're helping answer questions and guide current (and past) students in making decisions based on experience. It's not that it's a "big" thing, but I'm glad I can help - and I'm meeting some great new people in the process! It's been so much fun reliving the class through a new student's eyes again! So much anticipation . . . and just like any teacher would know . . . seeing those eyes light up when they finally "get it!"
I'll be checking in soon! I've still got my one lone scrapbook page from February to share, but hopefully, very soon, I'll have much more!

Three Happy Things on Thursday

Just a few things that really made me smile today:
  1. When I dropped L off at school there is a car line and we just drop off our kids and teachers take them inside. This morning, an aide picked up L and she freaked a bit with the boys' rubber snake (it's really a L O N G one) in the van. They took it and laid it across the steps to the school and the director flipped out as she went to go pick up another child from the cars. One of them HAD to go grab the camera and get a picture. Thank heavens Julie has a sense of humor and that they all know how to have fun together
  2. On the way home, I got to see seagulls playing follow the leader and "chicken" with some cars! Seriously, one was leading them all, right in a line. The strangest thing was there was no food or anything on the road that they were trying to get to. They'd go high in a circle and then head back down to where the cars were at the stop light. There were about 8 of them. Of course, my camera was AT HOME!
  3. The delivery people bringing my bed today were supposed to show up between 3:30 -5:30 which would have caused Ed to come home early from work. Amazingly (and this NEVER happens to me) they called and asked if they could come EARLY!!! Can you believe it??? I was thrilled. I was able to finish putting sheets on before I had to pick up M! I can't wait to see if K even realizes .. . . It's not something that she would pay much attention to I don't think. We don't have a new comforter yet - still waiting to find the "right" one. Ed and I actually "found" the right one, but it's $400 at Dilliards and I just refuse to buy that one at that price, kwim?? LOL

More later . . . maybe!

It's Wednesday . . .

Hooray for hump-day!! Things have still been crazy around here. I've got plans to scrapbook at a LSS on Saturday with some friends and here's to hoping I can work more than socialize for once (yeah, right)! lol Today was filled with picking up library books for L's class, trying to get my watch battery changed (which unfortunately has to be done at a watchmaker's to reseal the backing because it's a waterproof watch, and then prepping our bedroom for delivery of our new bed! I had to pick up K late from school due to a rehearsal that they had. Tomorrow holds the grocery and volunteering at M's school and a performance tomorrow night for K's chorus.

We're still waiting to get our countertops . . . I mentioned in the last post that we picked out a different granite and the contractor claims that he'll have it installed in about 3 weeks from last Thursday. I sure hope so! It'd be so fun to have those in time for Easter and Spring Break!

For Darlene, so sorry there's no new layouts yet! I promise I'm working on becoming inspired at the moment. I'm still going through hundreds of photos that need printed out before the Library of Memories class starts again on the 28th. Here is a mini-album though that I did for K last year when one of her friends was getting ready to move. It contains four of her closest friends - various pics from different times with them, with answers to a standard list of questions - favorite memories, what was unique and special about each girl, favorite things that they did . . .Enough talking, huh?? Here it is. The title is "You Gotta Have Friends" and uses some old Basic Grey. (I still love this stuff though!) Enjoy!

Long busy weekend . . .

This past weekend was a long one for the kids (and hubby too). L was out of school on Friday AND Monday, and instead of getting to take him to the zoo, I had to take his sister to the doctor - diagnoses was strep . . . so no fun for her until Sunday. We got her on meds and the boys and hubby went to Gainesville. On Sunday, we headed down to Washington Oaks State Park. It was a blast, and I got to work on my photography too. I played a bit with composition and lighting and then messed with the shutter speed and apeture too . . . there were several favorite shots so I'm only going to share a few of those.

The rocks weren't exposed today as the tide was coming in, and the waves were certainly rougher than I've seen. They were coming in quick and hard right where all the coquina rocks are. Ed and M had a blast trying to jump the waves or at least run from them without getting wet (it didn't work too well sometimes) . . . the sun was setting which made for some fun shadow pics, and the kids - especially K and L had lots of fun finding the perfect rocks to skip onto the water at the intracoastal.

Anyhow, then yesterday Ed and I had to head to Debary to look at some granite . . . we ended up changing our minds to a different type of stone, and I'm sure it'll kick the price up higher too, but oh well . . . then we came home, picked up L and headed to go bed shopping. I'm so tired of trying to crowd two little boys into our bed to play tickle monster that we're caving and getting a king! Yowzers! My master bedroom is shrinking on me . . . first scrap stuff, now a king size bed.

Anyhow, I've got to run! Maybe one of these days I'll get around to scrappin' again. I think I'm kind of enjoying taking a break after my January craziness.

A little off-topic today

But you have no idea how happy this makes me. Okay, so maybe not the animated movie part, but did you see the little caption about a new cartoon this fall on Cartoon Network! Not that I enjoy putting kids in front of the TV, but my kids don't "get" how Star Wars was such a big part of my childhood growing up . . . and from a girl's perspective, they'll never understand, but boys just loved these movies. At least this will be a little bit of a joy if they will enjoy this cartoon half as much as I enjoyed the movies, and maybe, just maybe, it'll lead them to be interested in seeing the movies. They are so complicated that they're just not getting into those yet.
In other scrap-worthy news . . . CHA is going to be wrapping up today! I've seen a lot of really yummy stuff that I can't wait to get my paws on . . . but I've got to win that lottery or go back to work first! {sigh} I'm excited about the expansion of the AC Thickers, and I LOVE all things Cosmo Cricket this year which is new for me. In the past, I had only been thrilled with one or two lines . . . of course, Scenic Route isn't letting me down - sneak peeks available here. I actually even liked the boy line from Glitz Designs and the new Dream Street Papers are completely fun and happy and just shout SUMMER!

LOOK at this!

Scrap Your Crap . . . it looks like it will be a VERY fun and useful site!! I know I'm working on downsizing my "supply of stash" and this will definitely come in handy! Let me know if you try it out and do a challenge! I'd love to go and check it out!

Self-portraits, school, and an organizing idea!

Things have been so busy here! I got an email about a week ago asking me to answer some questions and a headshot and send them in. Needless to say, I looked through over a year's worth of photos and didn't find any headshots of me that I thought would work. So, I got to spend a day this past week working with my camera's self timer, using a "model" for setting up focus, and finding the right "light." The light thing never completely worked out due to the makeup of the room I had to work in, but in the end, I think the picture finally turned out okay. What do ya think??

Needless to say, I'm not in love with it. By the time I got this shot, I had been working at this off and on between picking up kids and running a few errands. My makeup had started to melt off, the light had changed locations many times, and my hair really needed to be trimmed (I've not had it done since early Dec) but ah well . . . to me, it's good enough and hopefully good enough for everyone else who will be seeing it! LOL
The kids' schools have been keeping me busy. I'm in charge of M's valentine day party, and L was supposed to be in school until 2 but that has since been changed and he will be out at his usual time. I hate making plans to do something and have some other force cause me not to meet those plans. I feel really bad having to back out of helping at M's school. K has her Valentines Dance this evening - from 6-9 . . . of course most 7th graders don't go with "dates" . . . she does think one of the boys in her LA class is "cute" but she rarely talks to him. We did happen to see him skateboarding through our neighborhood last weekend with a few friends . . .
Not only is there the valentines parties happening this next week, but things have gotten busy for me as Historian on the PFA . . . needing to take LOTS of pictures at school events . . . and L's teacher needed a parent to step up and help with the library books this month because the mom that signed up decided to back out. L is also going to be Star Student next week so we've got to work on that posterboard, and we're moving L into his own bedroom this weekend. I've been painting blue for the last few days.
On the scrappin' front, I had a crop night over at my house on Friday night last week . . . and I've not done any scrappin' since the 31st . . . (OUCH!) I think my mind mentally needed a break . . . so many ideas started forming and my house felt the neglect as well. Now that I've got the painting thing under control and the house is going to get cleaned this weekend, I can take a small break every day or so and get another layout done! I browsed a friend's blog and she showed a picture of her laundry room/mudroom and though she complained it was messy, I was so inspired. I already have hooks on the wall for backpack and coat drop-off . . . the shoes are out of control (need a solution for that), but I was most inspired by her walls! Above her hooks she had a message center where each child's school calendar and notes were written . . . and hooks by her door to go to the garage for the keys (don't know if I would trust my 4 and 5 yo with this yet). Now, I know . . . you're thinking well, duh! lol I know I've looked at the message centers in Pottery Barn for years now, but I always envisioned them near my kitchen, where I usually am . . . but you know, this could work in the laundry room! I've currently got a file for each kid, which is where the calendars go right now, but I'm not looking at them frequently enough . . . Yes, I think this may be the answer . . . stay tuned!

It's February!!

That means my LayOut A Day Challenge over at BPS has come to a close. I'm sorry I've forgotten to share those here. I'm thrilled to say that I completed 39 pages (31 layouts)!! Hooray! AND the best thing is that it is so completely a habit now to come back and put something together. No, they're not all works of art, but they are pictures that I want in my albums, and so . . . there it is.

Here's what my "stack" looks like: Now I've just got to load them into their appropriate albums! That should be fun! LOL

Here was the final layout . . . a 2 pager for my youngest's 2nd birthday . . . they were all puppies, and even got to eat out of "doggie bowls!"

What color blue are you?

You are Ocean Blue

You're both warm and practical. You're very driven, but you're also very well rounded.
You tend to see both sides to every issue, and people consider you a natural diplomat.

Last night I cut it close with the LOAD . . . in fact, it wasn't even done by midnight our time . . . luckily the rules state that it's by midnight MST :) I was working on a 2 pager while trying to just listen to a movie my hubby wanted me to watch . . . Good Luck Chuck . . . I seriously did NOT want to watch this but it was HILARIOUS, and really a romantic comedy. Have any of you seen it?? See, my hubby has a "thing" for Alba, just like I have a thing for Russell Crowe or Orlando Bloom . . . so I let him watch it . . . and he really wanted me to watch it the next night . . . and I got so caught up watching it, that I didn't work on my layouts until it was over. The things you do for your husband, right ladies??

I then proceeded to crash and get up this morning, get the kids to school, and spent the morning at our local scrapbook store. Now, those of you that know me KNOW that I don't get a lot done at crops because I'm too busy socailizing. I thought for sure that I would get quite a bit done at the store today because I was only going with two other ladies that I didn't know that well. Yeah, right . . . well . . . first thing I do when I walk in is see a dear friend Ellen trying to spend some money. Then, a mom of a classmate/teammate of my Kindergartner walks in. She's clueless with the scrapbooking thing, but her husband is restoring a classic Mustang and at the shows, they put together albums, so she's doing that for him. So I took some time and showed her around and helped her look for some things. By now I've finished up the journaling from the 2nd page from last night and I'm trying to work on a 2nd page, but then my friend Ann comes through the door to pick up some of her Garage sale stuff from Saturday. She and her daughter stayed for a bit and chatted . . . needless to say, I got only ONE other page done besides the one I had started last night . . . but at least it was free and I had a great time socializing! LOL

Here are the two pages from yesterdays and todays LOAD challenge at BPS:

Totally Textured!!!

Oh my . . . I just checked out the new flyer for consultants regarding the special for February!! I am SO EXCITED about this limited time only special and I'm just not going ot spill the beans yet! I will tell you, it's a hefty chunk of change to lay down at one time, BUT it's such a great deal, I just know you'll want in on it!! Start saving your pennies . . . pay day is around the corner . . . and check back soon for all the details!!

Where did the weekend go??

Where did the weekend go??? I learned that a friend is safe and sound at home after spending some time in the hospital, that my kids are fabulous, and that Sydney White really isn't that bad of a teen-y bopper movie! LOL It was a great weekend minus my hubby having to work off and on. Yesterday we stayed close to home and watched a few movies, but my boys wanted to WASH daddy's car!! YIKES and BRRRR . . .

I have completely slacked with uploading layouts from the challenge too . . . sorry about that! Here they are:This one is from an album I've been wanting to start . . . it's called Photos I Love, is a 9x9 size and I'll be using a CTMH 9x9 album for this. This is my youngest with his typical personality - bashful, sticking out his tongue (completely silly habit of his) and handing me a flower . . . so I can add to it easily, these layouts are so completely simple!
Here is the one I finished last night. The page is actually a swap page of Majestic Blue from CTMH. It was nice to just be able to put down some pictures that worked well and do the journaling . . . but alas, it's a layout done! :)

Tonight's Layout

Hmmm, I know . . . a bit plain huh?? I think I'll be adding some red, but tonight was one of those nights where I just am about to crash and burn. It was a struggle getting any scrapping done at all tonight because the kids were all wound up for some reason. My lovely DD treated us to Starbucks and then I came home and got to work "straightening" since today while everyone was at school, I took a nap to catch up on sleep from the last three nights - it hasn't been that great with me putting the boys to bed "on time" as L keeps getting up at 5:30 and it's driving me crazy . . . I actually did two loads of laundry - washed, dried, folded and PUT AWAY, a load of dishes, and picked up all the toys laying around the house and straightened up the laundry room and the boys' room! I was mighty impressed!
Anyhow, to try and remember at times like this that I do love them so very much, I scrapped this picture of them COOPERATING and bringing in the trash cans one Friday afternoon (almost a year ago!!!!) I love this picture of them together. helping. me. They can be such great kids and it's so wonderful when I can catch glimpses of this! There's another one I "almost" did, but this copy I have is going to go in the Photos I Love (as this one may too) . . . but before I actually do the layout, I need to work on the schematic for the album. I know it'll be 9x9, but I don't know if I want to just stick with some cardstock and possibly vellum to let the photos and stories stand out, or if I'm going to let the picture decide . . . so I'm going to brainstorm that as I fall asleep tonight. I hope everyone is having an absolutely FABULOUS Friday.
On one last scrappin' note: I saw a picture today of a Cutter-Fly . . . yes, from the same company that makes the Cutterpede and other "bug" tools . . . it looked pretty awesome. It was basically a utility "knife" with all those little pull-out things for various items needed in scrapbooking. It retailed at 19.95 and had MANY different things. I'll have to find the link and post it tomorrow . . . it was pretty cool, but I don't think I can pay $20 for the little guy.

IT'S HERE!!!!!!! IT'S HERE!!!!! . . . and other news!!

Oh my gosh, I found it on my way out to pick up my youngest today from school - sitting at the garage door yet again . . . (which is just a tad annoying) but now I'm dying to crop tonight. I don't know when my hubby will be home, but I'm thinking once he is, DD and I will take over the kitchen table . . . A friend mentioned that hers came without the grommets, and I was worried at first, but they were in the bottom of the box, underneath the Big Bite and all it's packaging!
I need to do something about this cropping at night thing, mainly because I'm so tired of rushing to do a layout, take the picture, upload it, resize it, and then upload it to the site . . . I've really enjoyed doing this layout a day thing. Someone on the boards asked what we are most going to take away from this challenge. I basically have been doing really good at picking up after myself after I finish a layout. I found I was wasting TONS of time searching for things I used on the previous layout because I didn't put it back where it belongs. I'm working on another challenge with cleaning up and re-organzing my space. It's not like I have a lot to work with since moving into my bay window, but here's hoping that I can bless someone else with some of my things that I'm just not using. Don't be surprised if you see a "sale" on here sometime in the near future. Heck, maybe even just for the price of postage you could end up with some great things . . . so be sure to check back within the next week or two!
In other news . . . It's FINALLY FRIDAY!!!! YEAH!! Okay, I know, I stay at home all week . . . take care of the kids and clean house and well, how is Friday (or even the weekend) any different than any other day of the week?? I'll tell ya why . . . because for once there is no football, and I don't have to get up early to take my kidlets to school. My middle child in Kindergarten, has to be at school 3 days a week before 8 am, and I'm tired of traveling back and forth to two different schools.
Next week, I have an Open House on Monday (along with Basketball practice) a croppin' date on Tuesday and a crop at my house on Friday night for the JPS group! I "think" that's all the official stuff on my calendar that HAS to get done . . . OHHHH, I know what else . . . On Monday I'm going into M's classroom to take a picture of the Igloo building going on. The class has been collecting 1 gallon milk jugs and hot gluing them together . . . resulting in an igloo big enough to fit 3 kids. The teacher plans on using it as a reading center . . . but it's a culmination of their "winter" unit on Inuits and snowmen and all that other COLD stuff! LOL Ya'll do know I hate the cold, right?? :)
That's all for now . . . I will hopefully be back later tonight to post my layout - maybe even K's too!

Almost forgot . . .

Here's the layout from last night. It's using the Rough n Tumble papers from CTMH . . . stamp set is Giggles lowercase - buttons in Outdoor Denim . . . journaling was done with the CTMH Font CD. I loved this day at the park. It was highly unusual for my children to get along that afternoon as well as they did, but it sure was cold . . . and the sun was setting.

I heard from a long-lost friend today!!! Okay, maybe Heather's really not long-lost, but she has moved away and I feel like we haven't talked in F-O-R-E-V-E-R . . . not like we used to get to chat all that much anyhow - she was always so busy and we lived about 40 minutes away from each other . . . but now we live about 3 hours from each other. She told me she went ahead and signed up for Library of Memories today!! WHOOO HOOO!! A real-life friend in class :) All alumni so far have gotten to take the class for free (we just don't get to win prizes and get a new welcome packet) . . . and while I've made lots of friends through class, we're all so far away and don't really get to meet and share in person. Anyhow, Heather, it was great to hear from you today!

On the note of my Big Bite, I finally got notice that it was shipping, but no update has been done since the billing was received on the 22nd . . . so, I don't know what that means other than it's "close." lol

I'm still trying to figure out which pictures I want to work on tonight. I have several ideas running through my head, but I am SO TIRED (remember those three days in a row of getting up at 6:30) . . . sometimes I don't think there's enough coffee in the world! I took a short cat nap and fixed a cup of coffee (I'm so cold, too) and now I'm dealing with dinner and some crazy boys trying to bounce balls in my house . . . hopefully when I sit down to scrap, something will pop out at me so I don't have to stress over a decision! :)

Talk to everyone soon!

Anyone know what this is??

. . . . . .

. . . . . . . . ..

. . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Yep, that's right . . . it's the Big Bite of a case! LOL Yep, my case arrived here two days ago - that wasn't supposed to leave HSN until LATE January . . . of course, the actual tool is still NOT HERE . . . HSN really messed up this time! It's annoying to me that I know at LEAST 20 people who already have their tool - some which ordered after me - and mine was supposedly shipped out today . . . though it says only billing information has been received and they're manifesting pickup. HUH??? Yes, I'm annoyed with them right now. My case does me NO GOOD without having the tool to put it in.

Thanks for listening to my little vent this morning . . . I'm off to go help out in the classroom!!
Do you ever get tired of waking up early?? Today is the third time this week that I've had to have my Kdg'er at school before 8 am. Luckily, that means he's falling asleep much faster at night, but he's still wanting to sleep in come morning. I'm so tired of this battle . . . I wish it'd become habit for them to get up . . . my youngest btw, was up at 5 am. Of course, then hubby gets home at 9 pm and we relax and watch some TV together - finally falling asleep somewhere between 11 and midnight. Sigh . . . I think I'd love for everyone to be on similar schedules - revolving around mine of course! LOL

Today my dd is allowed to have a guest at lunch for the "special awards assembly" given during their lunch hour. Her nana was supposed to come to, but she called DD at the bus stop to tell her she's sick and can't make it. You know, I completely understand about being sick and not coming, but don't wait until my daughter is at the bus stop. Either call while she's still at home and can be a little upset there, or just don't call. I'm a little annoyed as my step mom has been cancelling more and more things with my kids lately. At any rate, DD made "honor roll" for the 9 weeks - which also put her at 4 A's and 2 B's for the semester!! HOOORAYYY for her!! I'm so proud . . . in middle school, that's a lot of work!

Today's also my morning to go help out at my son's Kdg. class. I'll leave there, come home for about a half hour and then go pick up lunch for my daughter, and head to the middle school. Nothing "too" special about it. I used CTMH stamps for the soccer balls and the word "soccer" and black and white CS. Journaling stamp is from autumn leaves. I had been wanting to scrap these pictures, but couldn't handle doing a layout for EVERY game he's ever played. I'm sure I'll do a layout of his soccer friends too - since they're not really featured here and he's made some great ones! These shots show him in a variety of positions and practic and games - along with his "formal" picture.

I'm still doing well on my LayOut A Day challenge over at BPS (if you haven't been keeping up with the daily posts!) Yesterday's layout was my 5 yo's first soccer season.

Yesterday's layout

will look eerily familiar to a previous one or two layouts. I'm really liking the white background with splashes of color with Loveland. This layout also has a picture of my oldest with one of her younger brothers - this time, it's the youngest though, on the day he came home from the hospital - not at the hospital. I did happen to use a different sketch and different title ;) so they weren't "too identical." Nonetheless, this wasy day 22 . . . I'm still working on tonight's layout (day 23) . . . I need to do some planning to get me through the rest of the week! Thanks for stopping by!

You may want to sit down . . .

LOL . . . just my way of warning you that I actually cooked food tonight! :) You know, not just warming up food, or making something easy like spaghetti . . . but really cooking salmon and green beans and feeding my kids something healthy. I know, scary.

What led to this you may ask?? I got on a scale for something the other day though - I try to avoid the scale - and realized that I had gained over 10 pounds in the last few months. So, it's time to get serious. I did 50 sit-ups today, and while I didn't walk outside of the house, the cleaning that I accomplished sure felt like I walked some miles. Tomorrow before the grocery, I'm aiming for the Y . . . I NEED to be back on an elliptical. I actually miss it. Isn't that funny??

I was sad today to learn that Heath Ledger died today. While I never saw Brokeback Mountain, I did enjoy his acting both in First Knight (remember, I have a 13 yo) and in The Patriot. I hear he's fantastic in the new Batman movie that is still in post-production too. Academy Award nominations also came out today as well. Viggo Mortinson and Johnny Depp were among the Best Actor nominees. I wasn't too familiar with the titles though . . . except of course, Ratatoille (there were only 3 Animated Film nomiations, btw). I am going to have to do some research and see some of these before awards night! Anyone local up for a movie night sometime soon??

Another 8.5x11 layout (LOAD #21)

What do you think?? Cute, huh? This is my youngest getting used to the water at the Y pool this past spring. I had a lot of fun playing with my camera at the Y this summer and I got some great shots with the zoom so my camera didn't have to get too close to the water! lol This uses KI Memories, Bazzill CS, CTMH CS (sweet leaf), Autumn Leaves journal stamp, and MM buttons.
Along with this being for LOAD over at BPS, it's also taken from a sketch given to us in another BPS class called Creativity: A Daily Dose. Little challenges and sketches were given to us every other day in combination with little projects like an envelope purse (I'll share that soon) and cards . . . If you haven't taken a class over there, I highly recommend it. The Projects NOW are nice . . . and I wish I had acted quick enough to get in on the Greatest Love Story Ever Told, but I didn't and now it's sold out . . . but I will tell you that the Workshops are 10x better than the projects. To talk one on one with the teachers, have message boards and get to know many of your classmates, and to have chats and be inspired by scrapbookers all over the world is amazing! I'm getting ready to go into Library of Memories again . . . class starts on February 28 and I can't wait! Many of the "alumni" from the last class have stayed in touch via a Yahoo group and some of them are even featured in Stacy Julian's new book: Photo Freedom! Very cool!

In other news . . . today was MLK day so the kids were out of school. What is it with teenagers and attitudes?? My youngest woke up this morning at 2:30 am and did not fall back asleep until after 5:30. Why is it that kids can't stay on their same sleep schedule?? I didn't do anything different . . . I didn't make him go to bed at 7:30 and he should not have woken up that early . . . but he did, and he went to the playroom and I kept waking up to Spongebob on the TV - every 30 minutes or so as an episode ended and you'd hear the din, dih-din, dah-din . . . you know that cheesy music as the credits role?? ugh . . . He then proceeded to wake up by 9 am again!!

Todays layout (LOAD #20)

I started this one last night at the crop, but had to finish stamping the months and then finish up the journaling . . . (I think it's time to step away from Scenic Route and move on to something else . . . everyone may start to think that they're actually paying me for advertising! LOL)

Feeling Honored . . .

My layout "Big Sis" was featured today as the Layout of the Day at Scrapper's Daily Dose. They're very nice over there and have definitely made me feel welcomed! You should check them out. Thanks ladies!

I took the plunge . . .

I finally did an 8.5x11 layout after 6 years. I had done ONE theme album of my daughters first trip to Disney, and then moved on to 12x12 in 2001 and hadn't looked back - until recently I had been having the urge to do something different . . . I really enjoyed it. It's one of the layouts I finished last night at a local store crop . . . This was done using a sketch from a Big Picture Scrapbooking class I took this past spring - Creativity: A Daily Dose. Gretchen was a wonderful instructor and it was so much fun mixing up altered projects with cards, tags, and layouts. I think I'll have to do more of this size too! For my Library of Memories albums, I use the American Craft 3-ring Moderns and they'll fit CTMH page protectors (imo, the best out there) along with the different sizes of page protectors. I still use my CTMH leather and linen albums for baby albums, wedding albums, Christmas albums, etc.

As the weather is getting colder again tomorrow, I'm heading off to bed. My lovely DH decided he needed the fan ON tonight . . . so I guess I'm sleeping in sweats! LOL Anyhow, I just finished scanning in today's layout for LOAD . . . I couldn't get away from the Scenic Route Loveland papers yet. I love how they are so youthful and fun! So, here's a layout celebrating my DD becoming a big sister for the first time - or my middle child meeting his big sister for the first time . . . however you want to look at it. It'll be going in DS #1 section of our family albums. Forgot to add that the scans stink on an 8.5x11 scanner - some of the penwork is missing (and their names and date are at the bottom). Hanging in there!

I'm very tired today. It was a long day of volunteering, cleaning, picking up kids and then heading to the dentist. My youngest was EXHAUSTED today, much like my middle child was last night. Anyhow, that was the layout on the plate tonight: "But Mom, I'm just not tired . . . " Famous last words of a typical on-the-go 5 year-old boy, aren't they?? LOL

I know the stitching is bad on this one. I am tired (did I already mention that?) and I didn't feel like loading photos off the camera tonight . . . It's using the CTMH Serendipity papers (limited time only special through the end of January) and is very simple. Journaling reads: "But Mom, I'm just not tired," were the last words I heard from you last night. Yesterday was rough: from the yellow card at school to your behavior with the family . . . it was so obvious to me that you were beyond exhaustion. About five minutes after you said your last words, I snapped this photo of you . . . rest your mind, body and soul and I'll see you in the morning. {heart} mom.

I also learned today that a friend couldn't comment because I had it set to require a blogger account. I'm changing that today - I'd hate for someone to not be able to comment just because they'd have to set up yet another account! Yikes . . . I know exactly what she means . . .
Hope everyone's having a Fabulous Friday!!

So (NOT) feelin' the love . . .

Okay, so here's my Scenic Route layout . . . It is probably my FAVORITE layout that I've ever done in 7 years of scrappin' . . . and no one really seems to think anything of it. Granted, it's not a photo of me or any of MY kids, but it is about my DD . . . I thought it was just precious . . .

Any thoughts??? I obviously have something I need to work on since it's not catching anyone's attention . . . :(

Some random thoughts . . .

I've decided that I'll at least interview for the Pre K teacher position at the preschool my son has been attending this year. My heart remains in wanting to improve my photography to where that can eventually become full time, along with possibly going into real estate when the market picks back up.

Speech is going well for my youngest, especially . . . but both are making huge improvements.

I had to take my Kdg early again (every Thursday) because he's part of the TBE mail team . . . he's been promoted to "assistant mail carrier!" lol I'd need to go grab a photo of the group for the TBE scrapbooks that I work on for PFA.

I'm going in to volunteer in my Kdg. classroom just like every other Thursday out there for their Great Leaps Reading Program.

I recieved an email last night from a favorite person to which she's asking me to do some things. I have to keep it hush-hush until it's announced but I so can not wait to tell all of you!

I entered one of my layouts in a contest over at The Scrappy Gourmet . . . maybe today or tomorrow will lead to another one. I'm really enjoying the Scenic Route lines. It's so much fun and so easy to pull something together for my kids with this line. It's not too "grown up" and not too "baby" either! I so wish I could find a way to get Scenic Route product for FREE! LOL

I'm still plugging along with the "Get a LOAD of this" Challenge over at Big Picture Scrapbooking. I've completed up to Day 16 and I'll be working on today's (Day 17) later!

Lain E. over at ScrapHappy is leading the LOAD challenge. She has a great blog . . . you should defnitely check it out. She also does Podcasts and interviews people from the scrappin' world. Yesterday was one with an interview from Linda Woods, author of the book Journal Revolution. If you listen to the interview, there's some details on what you can do to win your free copy! I've entered! After all, it's BPS's Reading Room (their online book club) book for February.

So, without further adieu (since I have to go take my youngest to school very soon), here is the layout from Day 15. Yes, I know this first one is nothing special . . . The point is "I SCRAPBOOKED!!"
This is actually the facing page of a trip to Theatre of the Sea in Islamorada, FL. I got to swim with the dolphins (they're on the facing page) . . . short, sweet and simple and the point of this layout was to finish it. This trip was from 1997, but I didn't start scrapping until 2000 and these have been "in the box" and I wanted them displayed. I LOVED Key West. This page matches all the papers and accessories that I've used throughout the whole album and I still may go add a few things - later - if I decide to. For now, I'm calling it good. My mind had been on the one I'll post next in all honesty, but I had to still print out a picture and by the time I got to scrapbook the night I did this layout, DH was already asleep and he would have been quite upset to awake to a printer . . .
Those of you who come and visit, please don't be shy. Feel free to leave a comment on the link below. You do have to be a blogger member, but it's great . . . so don't hesitate about joining up and maybe starting your own blog!

LOAD #13 and #14

I've got today's done already, and I didn't get a chance to share yesterday's!! Here they are:This green is much greener IRL . . . I don't know why it looks so "country." I'm refusing to buy new product for these challenges . . . I much rather would have had some new Basic Grey or Scenic Route Christmas . . . but that'll be what I use for the other years of Christmases I need to do! LOL
I had to go get tires put on my car this morning . . . now that "new tire smell" had infested my car and I'm fighting a headache . . . so I'm off to go rest my eyes and take some Motrin . . . until tomorrow!

LOAD Day 12 and other things

Short and sweet today . . . used Precious Paisley paper pack from CTMH - now discontinued. I loved how the colors of the paper brighten up the photos. These were taken back when the Orange Park mall actually had the carousel as part of the Aladdin's arcade room . . . now our nearest carousel is in St. Augustine.
Matthew had a basketball game today, and pictures . . . He did really well scoring two baskets. I know, it doesn't seem like a lot for basketball, but when you're talking that teams in general only score about 5 times a game max and the team we played only scored once, it doesn't seem so bad - especially since he's one of the shortest on the team! LOL

LOAD Day 11

I posted my last few days layouts below, but this is the layout I started last night and finished today for Day 11. I had the Basic Grey Infuse papers picked out since I got her pictures back from the school, but just figured out what to do with it yesterday. The layout design is based on a sketch from another Big Picture Scrapbooking class - this one by Gretchen S. called Creativity: A Daily Dose! Enjoy!

I stumbled this week . . .

Okay, so my last post is from Tuesday. I hung in there going back to work and remembering to blog for one night. Honestly, I could barely scrap a page this week either. Luckily, I used one in my "backup" that I needed to finish but really didn't want to share (read: OLD) and then the other I completely did one night and seperated them into two pages to share. Bad, I know . . . but I was EXHAUSTED! I was on my feet for four hours straight, and while I wasn't dealing with children constantly, I was running errands and laminating and copying and giving bathroom breaks and cutting things out and gluing things down! LOL I did enjoy it, but I couldn't stand any longer once I was home hardly, and for those that know me, I scrapbook standing UP - on my feet . . . ouch! I was seriously (and I guess I still am) considering going back to work at this school next year as a PreK teacher and well . . . I'm just not used to getting up and having to get ready to be presentable at 6:30 am anymore! sigh . . .

So, here are the two layouts that I finished the last few days:
I really like how this one turned out. It was based off of a BH sketch with American Crafts Playground paper. I love how it looks like bubbles!

This one has pink floss hanging from the horizontal picture to make it look similar to a picture frame. I wish I could move the two bottom ones closer together, but they were glued down a while ago. I added the blue background and the journaling this week. Not a favorite, but I loved the pictures of my Nana with my daughter - and the journaling describes how we always used to sit on the floor after my DD took a bath to dry her hair so we could all be in the family room together and talk about the day and what was going to happen tomorrow.

I've been tagged!!

Mary tagged me this time! Thanks, Mary! I'm sure this will be a blast!! :-) For the two people I tag, you'll need to add another question/topic to the list and have it be a 2 item, then tag 2 more people.

1. Name your 2 favourite scrapbooking topics. kids and trips

2. What are the 2 best places you've been to? Key West and Charleston, SC

3. Name 2 things you do every day. Email some friends and play with my kids.

4. Tell us 2 things that pretty much everyone knows about you. I love scrappin' (duh) and I'm a native Floridian

5. Tell us 2 things that everyone DOESN'T know about you. I'm a packrat and I like to bake Snickerdoodles.

6. Tell us 2 things that got you into the hobby of scrapping? I needed some "escape time" and I wanted to have my photos out of boxes.

7. Tell us 2 things that you want to accomplish in the next six months. I want to take a photography class online with Alison Tyler Jones and I want to declutter my house

I'm tagging Lisa and Jeanne next. Remember, answer these seven (7) and then add your own question with "two of something" and then tag two more! This way the list grows as it's being passed along! I can't wait to read your answers!

Load #7

Ooops, I'm slackin! This layout took me forever because I was also being quite entertained watching Ohio State get their rear ends handed to them on a platter by another SEC football team - GEAUX TIGERS!!

Here's the layout that should have only taken 15 minutes - used CTMH and Autumn Leaves (love those journaling stamps) stamps and Basic Grey Recess paper line - and some misc. cardstock too. What do ya think?

A scrappy good time!

A discussion on a scrappin' group I'm a part of centered around how many layouts we accomplished in 2007 and what our goals are for the 2008 year . . . I never did do very well at keeping track of all my layouts/cards/etc during the year, but it didn't take long to figure it all out! LOL Sad, but true . . . I didn't scrap nearly as much as DD thought I did and I can't wait to show her the numbers tomorrow.

In 2007, I accomplished:

  • 56 layouts (or 74 pages)
  • 76 cards (some for swaps)
  • 3 altered items

I'm amazed I accomplished that much to be quite honest. It feels that every layout I do takes FOREVER and a day due to interruptions or getting sidetracked. I'm doing my best to do better.

For 2008, I'm sitting at:
  • 9 layouts (11 pages)
  • 0 cards
  • 1 altered word book in progress
This layout I did today for the LOAD challenge at Big Picture Scrapbooking only took me about 20 minutes once I decided on the photo to use! It's actually a picture that DD's birth dad gave me one Christmas back when she was 5 (in the picture she was 4 1/2). Currently my parents have MOST of the pictures from when she was this age and earlier, so I don't get to scrap them as much as I'd like. My mom hates going through the piles of photos that she has, and she won't let me near them since there are "personal" ones from her first marriage, etc in there too. So I really enjoyed getting to do this one. I have loved the Dutch Girl line from Cosmo Cricket since I started seeing it in the galleries but I was on a no-buy then. So imagine my surprise when I went to my LSS the other day and really browsed around and found a little stash of paper and even the cigar box of chipboard alphas and shapes. I was SO HAPPY!! Anyhow, like I said . . . 20 minutes - nice and simple. Enjoy!

Today . . .

I'm kind of bummed today. I realized that tomorrow is Monday and it's the last day of the kids' holiday breaks. I've got to go get new tires on the van in the AM, but afterwards, I'm vowing to do something FUN with all of them . . . the rest of the day! I hate the groove of school - getting everyone up, packing lunches, and sending them out the door - usually running behind. I WANT to do better in 2008! Of course, going to bed after midnight like I am right now is not going to help me get up early and get moving, is it? Ahhh . . . tomorrow . . . at least with hubby's new coffee grinder, it's so much easier to know just how much coffee to put into the machine! (Sad but true, I never used to make coffee . . . but I am now). I'm hoping to be up with him around 6:30 every morning, get breakfast and coffee going, and then get the kids up at 7:15 (well, the boys anyhow . . . darling daughter can sleep in a bit).
We spent today watching football, playing with Christmas toys, and Grandma came up to bring the gifts from their aunt and uncle in Texas. I took down ornaments from the tree when the rest of the house went for a walk to a nearby playground. Tomorrow is the LSU/OSU football game where we of course are rooting for the SEC. Geaux Tigers!!
